A hard fought semi-final was eventually won by 1 RIFLES by 24 points to 23. 1 RIFLES started strongly using their superior bulk in the pack to good effect, crossing the RMS line for their first try in a little over three minutes. They played the conditions well and made RMAS defend for long periods. Their driving maul from the lineout worked well and RMAS went in at half time 12-0 down. After some harsh words by the captain at half time RMAS came out firing in the second ...half and were soon on the score board through two penalties. Unfortunately lapses in concentration continued to plague the side and the RIFLES scored their third try with 20 minutes to go. From then on in RMAS were in the ascendency scoring three well worked tries, but unfortunately gifting them one too. With three minutes to go RMAS were camped on the RIFLES line with a succession of penalties awarded for infringements it seemed inevitable that RMAs would cross the RIFLEs line and take the victory at the death. However it was not to be and the RIFLES prevailed. We wish them luck in the finals.
